Lately, we have got updates that iPhone 7 will not come with an OLED display. Rumors were afloat that it is not before 2018 that an iPhone with OLED display will be released in the market. However, the next generation iPhone is going to integrate some OLED technology in its screen. This news came to the forefront recently when we came to know that LG has invested about $8.4 billion dollars on a new plant in which the OLED technology is being developed.
In a press meet LG’s spokesperson has confirmed the news that LG has invested about $8.4 billion on an OLED plant in Paju. However, it didn’t mention anything about whether these displays are being made for smartphones or for other gadgets. Moreover, in the press meet it was also being mentioned that production in this plant is going to start from the beginning of 2018. Hence it is obvious that we cannot expect OLED smartphones before that. In this conference it was clearly stated that the P10 plant is being equipped to produce different size and types of OLED display suitable for TV, smartphone and smartwatches for about a decade.
LG has been providing Apple with OLED displays for the smartwatches from a long time. And the latest news about LG’s investment suggests that this bond is going to strengthen in the future course of time when LG is going to produce different kinds of OLED which will perfectly sync with different kinds of gadgets.
Apart from there are also rumors that Foxconn has invested a lot of money for building a plant for producing LCD displays for the next generation iPhones. Production in this firm is also set to begin from 2018. Analysts are of the opinion that the LCD displays would be integrated in the pocket friendly range of iPhone and the expensive ones will come with OLED displays.
